I am a fully qualified, traditional acupuncturist. I work from a quiet, relaxing acupuncture clinic just outside of Cobham, Surrey. I am a passionate believer in acupuncture and treat all age groups with a wide variety of conditions and symptoms.
Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture from The Acupuncture Academy: a three and half year degree level course accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board.
Diploma in Paediatric Acupuncture: a 1 year course with Rebecca Avern, author of Acupuncture for Babies, Children and Teenagers, which is now used in colleges all over the world. She has also written a book for parents and practitioners called Chinese Medicine for Childhood Anxiety and Depression.
My training was extensive and covered all aspects of Chinese medicine and acupuncture theory.
Treatments focus on the Five Element Acupuncture approach which considers a person’s immediate symptoms as well as addressing the wider issues that might affect their general health and well being.
Alongside Traditional acupuncture, I am also qualified in Moxibustion (application of indirect heat using moxa a therapeutic herb to warm and relax muscles and stimulate the energy meridians), Cupping (glass cups with a vacuum seal placed on the skin to stimulate the blood flow and clear stagnation) and Gua-sha (a smooth-edged tool used to stroke the skin while pressing on it to treat chronic pain) and use these additional tools alongside acupuncture during a treatment as required.
Dietary and lifestyle advice according to Chinese medicine is also offered as part of a patients treatment plan if requested.
I have a special interest in treating fertility, pregnancy, babies, children and teenagers. I have completed a post-graduate specialist diploma in Paediatric Acupuncture. I offer acupuncture as an effective, gentle and safe treatment for babies and children of all ages. I offer both child-friendly needle and needle-free techniques. It can be used in cases of both acute and chronic illness.
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council I adhere to the Council’s Codes of Safe Practice and Professional conduct. British Acupuncture Council members are also registered with the Professional Standards Authority which is a government body set up to regulate health and social care providers and is accountable to Parliament.
My clinic is licensed by Guildford Borough Council and I hold full medical malpractice and public/products liability insurance cover.
Many children are concerned that acupuncture maybe painful but as the needles are flexible and about as thick as two human hairs there is usually only a very slight sensation as it enters the skin.
Your child may be happy to try needles once I have gained their trust. However, there are a number of alternative treatment methods which are effective and do not involve the insertion of needles. This means that I will be able to provide the treatment that your child needs, in a way which is acceptable to them. The methods I might use include:
Each child who comes to the clinic will need a slightly different approach and different method of treatment. Each treatment is tailored to suit the nature and needs of your child. Treatment needs to be both effective and a positive experience for the child.
Eyes Bright Acupuncture clinics operate from The Cobham Community Centre located in the centre of Cobham Surrey and Mortiboys Dental Spa located near Effingham Junction railway station. Both venues offer a quiet, relaxing location. There is free customer parking and easy access by public transport.
